Breast-feeding at work now protected by law
Wed Jan 4, 2012
They don't have to pay you - they could have you make up the time. They just have to let you do it.

Renee, I love your post!! I'm currently working a 30 hour week and breastfeeding my 3.5 month old. I pump very quickly at work (takes less than 10 minutes - i'm sure other people chit chat longer than that). And i'm very discreet out in public.

You are right. I currently am breastfeeding my 3.5 month old and that is all I need. I do it once in the morning, once during my lunch and once in the afternoon. The law isn't really giving people anything new. It isn't even saying that women should be paid for that time.
Do you think banning young kids from restaurants is a good idea?
Mon Jul 11, 2011
I don't know where you people go to eat, but i can't remember the last time i was in a restaurant where there were unruly kids. I think those instances are few and far between. A general ban is going overboard.
Was your parental leave long enough?
Wed Feb 23, 2011
you're right on point! i think they actually call it the family medical leave act, not maternity leave. so, if your parents get really sick or are on their death bed, you can take time to take care of them. same with siblings, your spouse, etc.

I bet that most of these people complaining about maternity leave and employer family benefits also complain about poorly behaved children who are poorly behaved because their parents have to work to keep a roof over their heads and aren't home to teach them right from wrong.
Should U.S. employers be required to provide mothers with breaks and a place to breastfeed?

Would you eat your lunch in the restroom? Make a sandwich on the bathroom counter?

x1134x, i think your comment doesn't make sense in the context. mommy911 is trying to say she is providing for her children. how can someone have children and not work and be able to afford those children? That's a catch-22.

same here. smokers go and take breaks when they wish. it's been like that in every job i've had.

would you make a sandwich for your self in a public restroom? i don't think so. it's disgusting and unsanitary.
